NASCAR Fans E-mail List

Well things are winding down from another very exciting day of NASCAR Racing at Charlotte. Not sure how many of you got to see the coverage of the Busch Race today, but I must say that personally it was one of the best races that I've had the opportunity to watch. Door to door racing between Martin and Spencer on the last last of that race were really a statement to what kind of sport that we as NASCAR Fans have loved for years. I made a few observations about this happy hours that I wanted to point out to those who may not have stayed around to watch it. It told allot of stories about several of the drivers. Here are some observations that I made.

Rusty Wallace - I think that deal at Martinsville on the re-start is getting to him more that he is admitting. He point blank said that it concerned him.

Dale Earnhardt - Did anyone notice the Nike driver shoes he was wearing? I think this speaks volumes about a possible future sponsor for the Earnhardt stables.

Buddy Baker - The comment of the day. "One day Jeff Gordon will get a rear view mirror full of that kid" (Tony Stewart). Where the heck did that come from?

Darrell Waltrip - I've wanted to write something about this ever since he failed to qualify. I think that I speak for a majority of the fans when I say that Darrell will be missed. We have watched him for over 200 races without missing. The drivers for the most part seemed to chime in the same way. Darrell Waltrip really showed me what NASCAR meant to him today. Much like the Earnhardt ride at The Brickyard when he was injured we saw the sensitive side of a Winston Cup driver today. You could not help but feel for OLE DW as Ken Squirer read the Larry Woody article at the end of the broadcast. For those who missed it, the gist of the comments were that you never have to worry about seeing DW on the cover of a tabloit for wrong doings, you never have to worry about him being brought up on felony charges, and these are a few reasons why he will be missed in Charlotte this weekend.
