MICHAEL WALTRIP, No. 55 NAPA Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing Starting position: 19th
How was your qualifying run? "We were a little free on that qualifying lap, but for some reason the car just didn't sound like it should. We'll find out tomorrow when we get some more practice time if there's anything we need to work on. It's been the best motor that I've had all season and it sounded a lot different on that lap than during practice this afternoon. The weather might have changed and that might have changed it or maybe hurt it, but we had a good lap and we'll race Saturday night. The cooler temperatures tonight really gave the car more speed and more grip than we had earlier, so that should really make the race exciting."
DAVID REUTIMANN, No. 00 Domino's Pizza Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing Starting position: 20th
How was your qualifying run? "We're in and that's a good thing. We really need to figure out how we can be so fast in practice and then fall off in qualifying. Scott (Riggs) and Ward (Burton) put really good laps up on the board early in the session. We were a little more conservative because I knew if we set the car up tight then I could really get after it, and it was real tight. But that's way better than being loose. The lap was good enough to get us in the race. We have a decent car and we have some more things that we need to do to it to be prepared for race trim."
What do you plan to work on in final practice tomorrow? "We need to work on keeping the back of the car working the way it is right now and get the front of the car turning better. In the first race here it was tight, but it's great to know that we're in the race and now we can work on getting the car better for Saturday night."
DAVE BLANEY, No. 22 Caterpillar Toyota Camry, Bill Davis Racing Starting position: 34th
How was your qualifying run? "We just missed it a bit on the car. We kind of got messed up in practice -- we started out pretty good and then we went too far with the car one way, and then we got into the wall a little bit. We didn't know what to do there so we just played it safe. It wasn't as good as I was hoping we could get. This week it doesn't matter -- I guess."
Did you do anything different in practice because you were 'locked' into the race? "We tried some stuff in practice that we wouldn't have tried if we were outside the top-35 and had to qualify. We would have probably played it safer. We'll get by -- this car has raced good every time we've brought it to the track, but it hasn't qualified very good. It's no big deal."
JEREMY MAYFIELD, No. 36 360 OTC Toyota Camry, Bill Davis Racing Starting position: 38th
How was your qualifying run? "I'm happy that we made the race, but frustrated because it feels like every time we go out to qualify the motor just doesn't sound as strong -- it almost sounded like it had blown up. I think if we can get that problem fixed -- we will be able to qualify for more of these races. It means a lot to make this race here and we're just going to do the best we can Saturday night and hopefully get a good finish before the end of the season."
