CHARLOTTE, NC (October 8, 2008) -- Coming off their third top-ten restrictor-plate finish of the 2008 season, Robby Gordon and his No. 7 Menards team look to carry their superspeedway momentum forward into this weekend's Bank of America 500. As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series makes its way to Charlotte, Gordon and the team are excited to be racing in their backyard and optimistic about their chances of another solid finish, especially after a successful two-day test at the 1.5-mile oval last month.
Thoughts on Talladega -- "Our conservative strategy has paid off this year; you just have to be around at the end. It's all about survival and being there when it matters. After the four superspeedway events, we are second in restrictor-plate points. It is a great statistic for our organization," said Gordon.
Thoughts on Charlotte -- "We had two really good days of testing last month. We posted the 13th fastest overall speed. We went there with our latest chassis / geometry and learned a lot," said Gordon. The guys at the shop have been working extremely hard to build and improve on this latest spec. The car seemed to be real good in both qualifying and race trim, and we have made even more improvements since the test."
"Everyone takes their best equipment to Charlotte because everyone wants to win at their home track. We feel that we have one of our best race car on the truck and can't wait to unload it for this weekend's race. I am confident that we have another great finish. Every point counts as we near the end of the season, and this weekend is another chance to spread the points gap," Gordon commented.
Appearance Schedule -- Robby Gordon will appear at his souvenir trailer on Saturday afternoon at 3:50 p.m. before heading to the Jim Beam tent at 4:45 p.m.
