Menard Excited to Continue Momentum in Charlotte

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 8, 2008) -- Paul Menard returns to Charlotte for this weekend's Bank of America 500 on the heels of a career best second place finish at Talladega Superspeedway. Menard looks forward to the opportunity to extend his team's momentum from a superspeedway to the 1.5-mile oval track in Dale Earnhardt Inc.'s backyard of Concord, North Carolina.

"I'm definitely looking forward to Charlotte," Menard said. "I think it's safe to say that as a team we are feeling on top of the world! Coming off our best race weekend of the year and racing at home in Charlotte is enough to put a bounce in our step when we walk into the track this weekend."

In addition to the momentum from last week's run, Menard's arrival at the track is bolstered by his team's findings at last month's Charlotte test, which was deemed successful by Crew Chief Doug Randolph.

"We had a great test at Charlotte and found a few things that will really help us on race day with long runs," Randolph explained. "We're bringing one of Paul's favorite race cars to the track this weekend so that will certainly help.

"I know I speak for our entire team when I say we'd like nothing more than to follow up last weekend's runner up finish with another top-10 or even top-five on Saturday night."

In three previous starts at the track, Menard's best starting position is 17th (October, 2007) and his best finish is a 14th place effort, which he scored in his first start at the track in May of 2006.

Menard will get behind the wheel of the No. 15 MOEN/Menards Chevrolet for Friday's qualifying session, which will air live on ESPN-2 at 7p.m. Saturday's race will air live on ABC with a pre-show beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern.

In addition to his on track activities, Menard will participate in a fan appreciate day at Dale Earnhardt Inc. on Friday morning. Menard and the other DEI driver's will be available for autographs beginning at 10 a.m.
