Charlotte II: Jamie McMurray preview

HAVOLINE TEAM FACTS: Chassis: The Havoline team will race chassis ...

Chassis: The Havoline team will race chassis #307. Chassis #307 is the same car McMurray finished eighth with last weekend at Kansas Speedway. Chassis #307 has been raced five times in 2003 and has scored two top-five and three top-10 finishes. McMurray tested with chassis #307 at Lowe's Motor Speedway last month.

Jamie McMurray was the top Raybestos® Rookie last weekend at Kansas Speedway. He took top Raybestos® Rookie honors for the 16th time this year and has been the highest finishing rookie in the last seven races. Entering the UAW-GM Quality 500, McMurray holds a 25-point advantage (265-240) over Greg Biffle in the Raybestos Rookie point standings.

In his last seven races, McMurray has scored two top-five and five top-10 finishes.

McMurray has scored five top-five and 10 top-10 finishes during his NASCAR Winston Cup rookie season.

McMurray comes to Charlotte 17th in NASCAR Winston Cup Series points.

McMurray heads into the UAW-GM Quality 500 as the defending winner. McMurray, subbing for Sterling Marlin in the No. 40 Dodge last fall, scored the shocking victory in only his second Winston Cup start. McMurray set a new NASCAR modern era record by becoming the quickest driver to win a Winston Cup race.

McMurray will be pulling double duty this weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway as he will run in both the NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Series events. McMurray will pilot a No. 40 Havoline Dodge in Friday night's Little Trees 300 before climbing behind the wheel of the No. 42 Havoline Dodge for Saturday's UAW-GM Quality 500.

Braun Racing is fielding McMurray's No. 40 Havoline Dodge entry in Friday night's Busch Series race. Patrick Donahue will serve as the crew chief.

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates has scored two straight victories at Lowe's Motor Speedway in the UAW-GM Quality 500, with two different drivers: Sterling Marlin (2001) and Jamie McMurray (2002).

"Obviously, everyone on this Havoline team is very excited about heading into Charlotte this weekend. It's a pretty cool feeling to know you're coming into a race as the defending winner. We're coming off another strong run with the Havoline Dodge from last weekend at Kansas, and we're running that same car this weekend in Charlotte. We tested with that car at Lowe's about a month ago and left the test feeling very confident about returning for the race. I'm really excited about this weekend. Hopefully history will repeat itself and we'll have the Havoline Dodge in victory lane in Charlotte."
