DAVID GILLILAND-38-Sam's Club/M&M's Ford Fusion (Qualified 36th)
"The track a lot of grip to it, even with our early draw. We're proud. All of the guys on the team, Todd Parrott and everybody, did a good job getting me comfortable. I've never raced here, never driven a Cup car here, so for my first time here, we're real proud of our M&M's crew."
WERE YOU SURPRISED BY THE AMOUNT OF GRIP THE TRACK HAD EVEN WITH YOUR EARLY DRAW? "It's definitely got a lot of grip. The car was real fast going down in there and just very stable and very good. We kind set up to run one lap, and I don't know if two would have been better or not. We're real excited and real happy. I think it's going to be great."
KEN SCHRADER-21-Motorcraft Ford Fusion (Qualified 18th)
"Our little Motorcraft Fusion was good. It was good in practice and he (Fatback McSwain) told me the track had a bunch more grip, so to go ahead and scare myself, and I did. It's not going to be stellar, but it's not going to be embarrassing by any means."
TODD KLUEVER-06-3M Ford Fusion (Qualified 38th)
YOU WERE THE THIRD DRIVER TO QUALIFY AND MUST NOW WAIT TO SEE IF YOU MAKE THE RACE. HOW TOUGH IS THAT? "It's tough to go pretty much right away. I don't know if that's going to be good or enough or not. We'll have to wait and see. I was hoping that we'd pick up a little more than that, but it was just a little bit too free."
DO YOU EXPECT THE TRACK TO SPEED UP AS QUALIFYING PROGRESSES? "I think the track's going to speed up. It always does when it gets colder, so that was a disadvantage to us right away from the start. We'll just have to wait and see."
MATT KENSETH-17-Carhartt/DeWalt Ford Fusion (Qualified 12th)
"I was happy with that lap. That was a lot better than what we ran in practice. We picked up some speed, and it was a good, solid lap, so I'm happy with it."
WAS THERE GOOD GRIP ON THE TRACK TONIGHT? "The track is always real grippy here at night, and qualifying at Charlotte is one of my weaker tracks, I feel, qualifying, so we had the car driving good and got a good lap out of it."
HOW IMPORTANT IS STARTING POSITION HERE? "I think the further toward the front you can start, the better you qualify, the better pit stall you'll get, which I think is going to be very important with the small fuel cells and all of the pit stops. Hopefully we'll hang in there, so we can get a good spot and a good pit stall."
MARK MARTIN-6-AAA Ford Fusion (Qualified 8th)
"Our car was really good, better than in qualifying in a long time, so I'm real proud of it. I didn't get a perfect lap - not even near perfect - like we do a lot of times, so the car was good enough to kind of cover that up and give us a good starting spot. Hopefully it will be good in race setup."
WITH THE SMALLER FUEL CELLS FOR THIS RACE, HOW IMPORTANT IS QUALIFYING IN REGARDS TO PIT SELECTION? "Pit selection is important, starting up front isn't, but having a fast race car and being smart is."
