RAY EVERNHAM (Car Owner Evernham Motorsports Dodge Intrepids)
"It hasn't been a couple of good weeks here for the Dodge Dealers cars. Jeremy (Mayfield) is OK. He doesn't have any broken bones. He's out of the hospital already, but it was a pretty hard hit. The car is pretty torn up."
BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid) - Finished 26th
"We foot was fine. We just could never find what we needed there in three and four. It didn't go 600 miles, and that didn't hurt my feelings at all tonight."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 ALLTEL Dodge Intrepid) - Finished Fifth
"We wouldn't mind a top five after the way our year's been. I wish we could have got a chance to try to win. That's what it's all about. We needed a good pit stop We were fast at first, but I had to slow down a little bit at the beginning because we were getting a little hot. I slept in this morning. That's what race car drivers do on racing morning. If it got going again, if we could have kept the nose clean, I think we had a shot to at least move up a few spots.
"I thought maybe we had used up our bad luck tonight, but crazy stuff kept happening. The window came out going into turn one. I felt the air on my arm, and I didn't know what had happened. I looked over and saw it was gone. About that time I came around again in turn one and caught it right in the windshield. It must have launched that thing 150 feet into the air. We put another one in, and it didn't cost us too much. Some other crazy things happened. I think our generators went out in the pits for a few minutes, so maybe it was good the rain came."
JIMMY SPENCER (No. 7 Sirius Satellite Radio Dodge Intrepid) - Finished Fourth
"I've been on 'em (pit crew) and Tommy's been on 'em. They've been making some mistakes this year. One of our goals after The Winston was not to make any mistakes. The boys didn't make any tonight. We had some absolutely incredible pit stops, 13.8, 13.9, 14.2. That's hard work. Tommy has really been working hard with these guys.
"I gave Tommy some bad information. We got the car too loose. Tommy said he was going to fix it and he fixed it for me. We got up there and got our lap back. Now we're fourth. If it had gone back to racing, who knows. Maybe we had a shot at those Chevrolets up front and Matt. All in all, I can't say enough about Tommy Baldwin and my guys. I've said it before. I wouldn't trade 'em. A good top five finish is pretty good.
"I wish we could have gone back. I wanted a shot at it. Tommy hit the nail on the head and fixed the car, and yeah, I wish we could have raced some more."
STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid) - Finished Seventh
"It's late. I'm ready to drink some Coors Light. We really didn't do anything to the car. I don't know if it's me or what in qualifying. We've got to work on it. I think we had a better car than seventh. We easily had a top five car. We lost some spots in the pits. The guys beat us out. They speeded on pit road and beat us out. We had a good car on the long runs. I'd say from 40 laps on we were better than the leaders."
RUSTY WALLACE (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Intrepid) - Finished 12th
"I think we had the car pretty close to where it needed to be when they called it off. We got a lap down early, but I think we could have made it back if the race had restarted. I think we easily had a top 10 car. Congratulations to Roger Penske and his Indy teams today. I was hoping Ryan and I could keep the ball rolling for him tonight at Charlotte, but we're gaining on it and we'll try it again next week at Dover."
