of the leading cars were going to have to pit for fuel. But that's not
the way it turned out, so we had to settle for an 18th-place finish."

DAVIS ON RESTRICTOR PLATES AT NHIS: "It has really put some extra strain on Terry Elledge and the entire engine department. When we found out last weekend, I called the race shop and got Terry working on the motors right away. We can't run the same restrictor plate motor that we run at Talladega because the tracks are so different. So, basically they had to start from scratch. They've been working around the clock trying to prepare some motors for this weekend. I should be interesting. Unlike Talladega where the driver is flat-footed all the way around the track, New Hampshire will require that the driver be hard on the gas and hard on the brakes as well. That just adds stress to the motors. I think you'll see a lot of problems with motors this weekend."
BALDWIN ON NEW HAMPSHIRE: "There is a lot of unknown heading into New Hampshire. We'll have to modify our set-ups a little and get the motor things figured out. It is going to take some adapting on Ward's part too because he's going to have to find his comfort level with how far he's going to drive into the corners. With a plate on the motor, the driver will probably be going faster through the turns because they can drive the car in deeper. It will be interesting to see how things play out this weekend."
