FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Nov. 17, 2000) - O'Reilly Auto Parts will distribute free tickets to NASCAR Winston Cup and NASCAR Busch Series qualifying sessions at Texas Motor Speedway - collectively saving fans as much as $2 million.
O'Reilly Qualifying Days are set for March 29-30, 2001 at The Great American Speedway. It marks the third different title sponsorship for O'Reilly at Texas Motor Speedway.
"We pride ourselves on being the most affordable superspeedway in NASCAR," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "Allowing fans to see each day of qualifying for free saves them about $20-25 per person. We value our customers just as O'Reilly Auto Parts does and they wanted to be our sponsor. They really know how to promote an event."
O'Reilly's sponsorship of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race -- the O'Reilly 400 -- moves to the June 8 date at Texas in 2001. O'Reilly also sponsors the fall Pennzoil World of Outlaws event, The O'Reilly Texas Showdown at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.
Fans will also benefit from the sponsorship. They will be able to pick up free tickets for O'Reilly Qualifying Days prior to next year's event at participating O'Reilly Auto Parts locations. "Our partnership with Texas Motor Speedway has played a major role in our growth plans throughout Texas and surrounding areas," said O'Reilly vice president of advertising and marketing Ron Byerly. "With over 700 stores, we will be able to conveniently reward race fans in nine states with free tickets to one of the best NASCAR events in the country."
"Texas Motor Speedway and O'Reilly Auto Parts are saving the fans $1.5 - $2 million with this free offer," said Gossage. "Last year, we had more than 75,000 people attend qualifying days, so this is a real treat for the fans. We're the only NASCAR speedway to do this. It's just another one of our 'fan friendly' approaches which is why we consistently draw the second-largest crowd of the NASCAR Winston Cup season and the largest crowd of the NASCAR Busch Series season."
