Notes: Both the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series and Busch Series will compete on the same tire codes this weekend at Kansas . . . this will be the first time these teams will run this particular combination of left- and right-side tires at Kansas, though Nextel Cup teams have run them eight times already this season . . . in addition to Kansas, Nextel Cup teams will run this same combination at California, Charlotte, Dover, Michigan, Chicago in 2004 . . . teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Kansas . . . the air pressure in the inner liners must be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "This is the most familiar tire set-up Goodyear will bring to the track in 2004, with Cup teams scheduled to run this combination a total of 10 times this season. As far as the track goes, Kansas is one of the 'new' tracks on the Cup schedule, and as the asphalt ages, the racing groove widens out and should make for more side-by-side racing."
