Hmiel Heads To Homestead For A Triple Header
MOORESVILLE, NC - (November 9, 2004) Shane Hmiel will be closing out the 2004 NASCAR Season in Homestead with a triple header. Hmiel will not only be driving the Team TRIMSPA No. 15 NASCAR Craftsman Truck, the Team TRIMSPA No. 32 Busch Series car but will also be driving the No. 23 Bill Davis Racing NEXTEL Cup car on Sunday.
"It should be a great weekend," Hmiel said. "Driving in all three series should be a lot of fun. The No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevrolet is always fast and the testing I did at Homestead should help immensely. The truck race on Friday should help with the Busch car and the Cup car."
Hmiel will have his final ride in the Team TRIMSPA No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports team. Hmiel came on board with Billy Ballew in January and has made a major impression on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
"I have enjoyed racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series," Hmiel said. "We've had a good season. I was really hoping to get into the top-10 in points for Billy Ballew Motorsports but mechanical problems plagued us during the beginning of the season and the DNF's hurt our chances. There is a lot competition in this series and it has been an experience I will never forget. I am happy to have my first major win in NASCAR in the No. 15 Chevrolet Silverado. It will always be the most memorable time of my career. I hope to be able to come back in the future and race in the trucks again. I really want to thank Billy Ballew for the opportunity he gave me this season and for the great equipment he put underneath me. The team and I have really grown together this season and I will miss them. Billy and I have become good friends and I only wish him the best in the 2005 season."
You can see Hmiel and the rest of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race Friday, November 19th live on SPEED at 3:30pm ET and on MRN and its affiliate stations at 3:00pm. The NASCAR Busch Series season finale is slated for Saturday, November 20th. The event will be televised live at 1pm ET on NBC and on MRN and XM Satellite radio. The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race is Sunday, November 21st and will be broadcast live on NBC beginning at 12:00pm and on MRN and XM Satellite radio.
