MIAMI (August 16, 2000) – Race fans will get the opportunity to select their view, and then get the driver’s view, at Homestead-Miami Speedway during Select-A-Seat Day on Sunday, Sept. 17. Fans will be able to choose their seats from the remaining inventory for the Nov. 10-12 Pennzoil 400/Miami 300 NASCAR race weekend, and then get a lap around the 1.5-mile Speedway in an official track vehicle.
Select-A-Seat is part of a free full day of fun activities for the entire family, hosted by the South Florida Motorsports Host Committee, including a custom car show, go-kart racing, children’s activities, music, food, vendors, and a five-kilometer run around the track.
All available seats for the Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race and Miami 300 NASCAR Busch Series finale will be marked, and fans will be able to wander through the grandstands to find their favorite vantage point. Fans reserving seats that day will get a t-shirt and lap around the 1.5-mile oval in pace cars or official track vehicles (time permitting), and will be eligible for hourly drawings of official Speedway merchandise, racing memorabilia, and other door prizes.
Select-A-Seat Day will be held in conjunction with Speedway Days, which is designed to open up the Speedway to the general public so they can experience the facility first-hand, free of charge. The event is hosted by the South Florida Host Committee, which acts as a liaison between the Speedway and the South Dade business community.
“Speedway Days is a fun event, and something that can grow over the years,” said Curtis Gray, President of Homestead-Miami Speedway. “Seats for the Pennzoil 400 weekend are selling fast, and this is a great opportunity for fans to find their favorite location, and then experience a lap around the track. If you’ve never had the opportunity to visit the Speedway, this is a fantastic opportunity, and it’s free. We’re sure you will see why it’s been called America’s most beautiful Speedway.”
Speedway Days opens with a five-kilometer run at 7:30 a.m., with the Select-A-Seat and other activities beginning at 10 a.m. While the run has an entry fee, all other activities and parking are free for the day.
