Notes: This is the second consecutive race this specific combination of Goodyear Eagles will be run at Atlanta . . . Atlanta is the only track where teams are scheduled to compete on these tire codes in major NASCAR competition in 2004 . . . both the Nextel Cup and Busch Series teams will compete on the same tires this weekend . . . as on all ovals longer than one mile, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Atlanta . . . inner liner inflation should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "Atlanta is unique in that its surface is very abrasive compared to NASCAR's other one-and-a-half-mile, high speed tri-ovals. The Atlanta tire set-up has the same construction as those other, similar ovals, but because of the nature of the track surface, we utilize tougher tread compounds that are unique to Atlanta. Both the left- and right-side constructions are the same as those we have used for the entire 2004 season at Dover, Fontana, Charlotte, Chicago, Kansas City, Kentucky, Michigan and Texas. We will also use this construction set-up at the season finale at Homestead."
