SHARP ELECTRONICS AND 3M COMPANY TEAM WITH ROUSH FENWAY RACING TO SPONSOR EDWARDS AND MCMURRAY TEAMS
CONCORD, N.C. (April 10, 2007) - Roush Fenway Racing is pleased to announce a new sponsorship with Sharp Electronics and 3M Company. The sponsorship includes five Busch Series races with current points leader, Carl Edwards; and two Nextel Cup races with Jamie McMurray, who is currently 12th in the NEXTEL Cup point standings. Both teams will debut their Sharp AQUOS/3M Vikuiti Ford Fusions at Talladega SuperSpeedway later this month.
Sharp Electronics Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Sharp Corporation, a worldwide leader in flat-panel Liquid Crystal Televisions (LCD TV), and 3M Company, a worldwide leader in Brightness Enhancement Films used in LCD's, will extend their co-marketing efforts designed to enhance awareness of Sharp's AQUOS line of LCD TVs and 3M* Vikuiti? brightness enhancement films. Both the No. 26 and No. 60 Ford Fusions will display the Sharp Aquos and 3M Vikuiti brands.
McMurray will be running the No. 26 Sharp AQUOS/3M Vikuiti Ford Fusion at Talladega Speedway on April 29 and again at California Speedway when the circuit returns for the annual Labor Day race on September 2. Edwards will pilot the No. 60 Sharp AQUOS/3M Vikuiti Ford Fusion at Talladega Speedway on April 28, Kentucky Speedway on June 16, Chicagoland Speedway on July 14, Michigan International Speedway on August 18 and California Speedway on September 1.
"Talladega is a track that I really enjoy running at, and California Speedway is statistically my best track, so I think Sharp and 3M did a great job of picking which races to run with the No. 26 team," said McMurray.
"Sharp Electronics is excited to highlight our brand and our co-branding relationship with 3M, with two of the most well-known and charismatic drivers in NASCAR today," said Bruce Tripido, Associate Vice President of Marketing for Sharp Electronics' Entertainment Products Division. "The Roush Fenway Racing team, as the largest and most successful in all of motor sports, is a natural partner as we look to broaden the reach of both the Sharp AQUOS and 3M Vikuiti brands".
"It's awesome to have Sharp and 3M on board for these five races in the Busch Series," said Edwards. "I had a chance to see the car in the shop and now can't wait to see it on track. It will be a fast car and hopefully a car we can put in victory lane for them."
Both McMurray and Edwards have successful records at the tracks where they will be running the Sharp AQUOS/3M Vikuiti race cars. McMurray has an average finish of 12.4 at California Speedway and Edwards has two wins at the five tracks in the Busch Series.
