FORT WORTH-DALLAS (March 4, 1999) - Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) will drop the green flag on the organization’s 1999 fundraising events with the Star-Telegram Speedway Children’s Charities Golf Tournament.

The Star-Telegram Speedway Children’s Charities Golf Tournament will kick off the PRIMESTAR 500 race week events. Tee-off is set for Wednesday, March 24 at TOUR 18, located just 15 minutes from Texas Motor Speedway. A VIP Lunch will start the day, followed by a 1 p.m. shot-gun start. A Texas-size barbecue dinner will close out the day’s events.

NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch drivers are scheduled to play in the tournament including: Adam Petty, Bobby Hillin, Blaise Alexander, Todd Bodine, Randy LaJoie, Boris Said, and Tim Fedewa. Jeff Burton, winner of the inaugural NASCAR Winston Cup event at Texas Motor Speedway in April of 1997, will attend the luncheon.

"The tournament will give golfers in the metroplex the opportunity to play a round with some of NASCAR’s greatest drivers," said Alicia Jenkins, director of the Texas chapter of SCC. "Everyone can have a fun-filled day which will benefit the children of North Texas."

Race and golf enthusiasts still have the opportunity to play in this unique event. Teams of four may enter the tournament for$1000 -- individuals may play for $200 each. Contact Alicia Jenkins at (817) 215-8564 for additional information.
