DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2000) NASCAR has released its 2001 testing schedule for the month of January at Daytona International Speedway for NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series' teams. In a change from recent years, each NASCAR Winston Cup Series manufacturer will have only one session in the month, rather than two. NASCAR Winston Cup Series teams using Fords will test Jan. 8-10, teams using Chevrolets or Pontiacs from General Motors will test Jan. 11-13 and teams using Dodges will test Jan. 16-18.

All NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series teams, whether they are using Chevrolets, Fords or Dodges will test from Jan. 19-21.

NASCAR Busch Series 2000 final car owner point standings will determine which days the teams will test. Those car owners finishing in odd-numbered positions in the final point standings (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.) will test Jan. 22-23 while car owners finishing in even-numbered positions in the final point standings (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.) will test Jan. 24-25.

The teams are preparing for their season opening events, which are scheduled during Speedweeks 2001 at Daytona.

NASCAR Winston Cup Series teams will run for the Bud Pole for the Daytona 500 on Feb. 10, with the 500-mile classic scheduled Feb. 18.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Daytona 250 is set for Feb. 16.

The NASCAR Busch Series NAPA Auto Parts 300 is set for Feb. 17. -nascar.com-
