"The past few weeks have been very disappointing for the entire Caterpillar Racing team. We started the year running very strong with consistent finishes and then we kind of fell on our face a little. We hope this weekend at Charlotte will turn things around for us." - Ward Burton, driver of the No. 22 Caterpillar Pontiac

LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY UAW-GM QUALITY 500

BURTON ON MARTINSVILLE: "It's just a shame. We had a great qualifying run and we practiced real strong all weekend. We got out of the box good and we were heading toward the front when we had our problem. We pitted and got four tires and when I got back on the track I noticed the funny sound in the motor. Then, I switched ignition boxes and that didn't help any so we went back to ignition one. We took the green and then we blew up. It is very uncharacteristic to have a motor problem at Bill Davis Racing. Terry and all of those guys in the motor room do an outstanding job with the motors. It has been a long time since we had a problem with motors and I hope it is a long time until we have another problem."

BURTON ON CHARLOTTE: "We had a real good test here a couple of weeks ago and I think the No. 22 CAT car is going to be very competitive. I like this race track a lot. It's fast, but it's smooth. I have a lot of confidence in Tommy and the guys and I'm sure they'll give me a great car for this weekend's race. Our goal is to have a good finish, get back some points and move back to ninth in the points."
