HOW IS YOUR CAR? DID YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO WORK WITH? "I did today, but tomorrow is a whole new deal. As long as we can come in here tomorrow and keep making gains, then we should be in pretty good shape."

TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

"I'm pretty excited about it, to be honest. That's the best lap we've run all day. The track picked up some grip after the rain and we really got a pretty good lap out of it.

"It's a typical Michigan. I think our car will be pretty good on Sunday. But, we haven't been in traffic, yet, so we'll have to wait and see. But, we definitely have something to work with for the rest of the weekend."

JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

"It was awesome through one and two, and I thought we were going to be in really good shape. Then, I went down into three and it felt like the left front was flat. The car bumped the track, it slid up and I lost everything in three and four. I guess we should have hoped for rain. We would have started three spots better."
