EARLY INCIDENT COSTLY FOR NEMECHEK IN BRISTOL RACE

BRISTOL, Tenn. (April 3, 2005) -- Joe Nemechek was one of the early victims in Sunday's crashfest at Bristol Motor Speedway.

With only 20 laps completed in the 500-lap Nextel Cup event, Nemechek's U.S. Army Chevrolet hit the wall after it got tangled in an incident on the half-mile track.

Nemechek drove the heavily-damaged black and gold car to the garage area where the Army of One crew made a number of repairs, including the replacement of the rear-end housing. When Nemechek returned to action he was 100 laps down and was credited with a 33rd- place finish.

"The car felt good from the get-go and we were picking off positions," said Nemechek. "But this is Bristol and things just happen. I am really proud of my guys for a great job they did in making the repairs and getting me back on the track. It wasn't pretty but we managed to finish the race with an injured car and gain a few positions. That shows the kind of fight we have with this Army team."

"Today was a recurring theme on how our season has gone so far -- but that will change," continued Nemechek. "You just have to remain positive and battle your way through the adversity."

The next opportunity for Nemechek and the U.S. Army team to break the early-season jinx will be Sunday at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.
