MARK MARTIN - No. 6 Viagra Taurus (Qualified 7th)

HOW DO YOU ASSESS YOUR CHANCES TOMORROW NIGHT? "I don't know. You'll have to watch, but we'll have a good car."

HOW DO YOU LIKE RACING HERE AT BRISTOL? "I used to love it, but now that they wreck so much here it's not as much fun as it used to be."

HOW WAS THE LAP? "It was just lucky. I'm thrilled because we really didn't think we had a car to do that, but I got a lap in three and four to die for. One and two really stunk, but three and four was good enough to get me a reasonable starting spot."

ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 38 M&M's Taurus (Qualified 8th)

"It wasn't that good. I don't know if it was the set of tires they put on or what, but the car was a lot worse then than what it was in practice. I'm not sure why. We just have to do some more homework. That will probably be 15th or 16th for the start of the race."

YOU LOOKED LIKE YOU WERE GETTING AFTER IT HARD ON THE SECOND LAP? "Yeah, I was trying to get something out of it. I knew I was struggling so bad that I had to try to hustle the car a lot and almost wrecked it. I guess it could have been a lot worse. I could be in a backup car right now. It's just one of those days."

RICKY RUDD - No. 21 Keep it Genuine/Motorcraft Taurus (Qualified 32nd)

"I was a little bit looser than I wanted to be. I think I overdrove the entrance in the corner trying to hard and that probably didn't help us any. But it's not bad. Compared to where we've been, I'm pretty happy."

KURT BUSCH - No. 97 Sharpie/IRWIN Taurus (Qualified 24th)

"Normally we don't slip up that bad in qualifying here. We have just been struggling. There's a questionable factor in our car right now and we don't know where it's coming from. It's something that we haven't had in the past, so it did juke us a little bit in qualifying and we were loose all the way around. I just watched two other cars that were loose as well."

HOW IS THIS CAR COMPARED TO THE OTHERS YOU'VE HAD HERE? "It's the same car. We just have one questionable number that keeps reading on the car that's different than any other time we've been here in the past. We're trying to adjust for it. It's in an area of the car that is normally pretty secure with the decisions we have to make, so right now we're all over the map trying to find out why this problem is existing. It was just a little loose in qualifying. We ended up on the wrong end of our tenth. We needed to be down in the low teens and we ended up in the low twenties. That will push us back a little bit. Maybe we'll get a spot on the front straightaway and maybe we won't, but it's just a matter now of looking at the forecast to see if it's gonna be this hot tomorrow. We've got to make those adjustments."

ARE YOU OPTIMISTIC YOU CAN FIND THE PROBLEM? "It's gonna be tough to find. Mark Martin, for some reason, is running his deal. We've got our deal right now and they're not matching up at all, so we've got to find out why."

CAN YOU MAKE IT FOUR STRAIGHT HERE? "We've got our work cut out for us just as we have every other time."

GREG BIFFLE - No. 16 National Guard/Subway Taurus (Qualified 10th) - "That was a good lap for us. We had a little bit better car than that, but we tightened it up right there on pit road right at the end with a lot of guys wrecking. We thought the track was loose and we tightened it up. Kurt Busch, our teammate, was loose so we tightened it up and it was a little bit too tight. I had to wait on the throttle in the corner, but that's not bad. If we can get a top 15 starting spot we'll be pretty happy with that."

DALE JARRETT - No. 88 UPS Taurus (Qualified 14th)

YOU WERE 30TH IN PRACTICE AND GAINED MORE THAN A TENTH IN QUALIFYING WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS HOTTER. HOW? "A few good adjustments. I think we're either gonna have a moment of silence or a party because I actually picked up in qualifying (laughing). We're pretty happy. Mike made some good adjustments and I think seeing a lot of people slow down shows that our adjustments were the right thing to do. I'm pretty happy. I've got a good race car and, hopefully, we can get ourselves in a position here to try to win on Saturday night."

IS THIS A DAY WHERE EXPERIENCE PAYS OFF BECAUSE SOME TEAMS COULD HAVE PANICKED WITH THE WAY PRACTICE WENT? "We didn't panic. One of the reasons is that I think experience does help, not only on my part but on Mike's as well. We knew that everything is so close here and that if we could just pick up a little bit, some guys tend to slow down here that we would be OK. That's kind of what happened."

CARL EDWARDS - No. 99 Round Up Taurus (Qualified 25th)

"We started practice in race trim and we just didn't get a good sticker run in qualifying trim. We put stickers on there for qualifying and it was just way too tight. It's very frustrating because I feel comfortable enough here that we could have been a little better. But I think it's the smart thing to do - to work on the race a little more. I mean, 500 laps is a long time. Getting a good qualifying position would have been great, but that's OK. It'll pay off in the race."
