RUSTY WALLACE (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Intrepid) -- Will start 20th

"I was a little concerned about going early like that. I pushed a little bit on entry, but from the center on out I was wide open so we hooked up. I wanted to get down into the teens (15.1xx seconds), but the twenties are okay. I had a 15.260 sec. in practice, so I did pick up from practice a little bit, but not as much as I thought I would. I was pretty happy with the run. Our Dodge felt good. It was just a little tight on entry."

TED MUSGRAVE (No. 7 Sirius Satellite Radio Dodge Intrepid) -- Starts seventh

"I had to catch my breath a little bit after that lap. The racetrack has got a little more overall grip after the rain. But these Ultra guys have worked really hard. Tommy Baldwin put in a setup that Jimmy (Spencer) really liked last time here in the spring. We're really close to it right now. It'll take just a little tuning to get it to what I like, and it'll be really good. We just have to get it just as good for happy hour - we'll be busy. I owe a lot to Jimmy (Smith), Sirius and everybody at Ultra motorsports. We had a good run today. I mean, I'm just a retired old man coming back here, and I'm awfully glad to be starting near the front.

On crowd cheering for him as he came out to qualify

"I think that was just something between Kurt and Jimmy's little rivalry. Now, with me stepping in for Jimmy this week, I think the fans are showing some support for everything that he's going through. Maybe I had a few fans here today, but I think I'll be leaving here with a few more.

"We've put in a lot of laps here this weekend, but now it just rained so at least the racetrack will be a little cleaned off for happy hour. Nevertheless, I'm pretty pleased with everything. The more laps around here the better, but I just don't really care for the place to race at. Maybe that's just because I never had a whole lot of luck here, but we'll certainly try to change that here this weekend."

RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 ALLTEL Dodge Intrepid) -- Starts sixth

"I didn't really get the lap that I wanted, but I think it will be good - maybe a top-five run for us. I think we have a couple other guys who can beat us. We'll just see if it'll hold up for awhile. We're going to keep working on trying to get this car good for tomorrow."

BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid) -- Starts 25th

"Our first lap wasn't bad. I kind of screwed up the second lap. I knew it when we got into one. I'll just try a little harder. Our setup feels good now, but it depends on whether it rains here during practice or not. That's going to be a big deal."

JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid) -- Starts 29th

"Some days you've got it, and some days you don't. The car felt good, but it was just a little tight in the second lap, so we slowed down a little bit. That ought to get us in the field though, anyway."

STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid) -- Starts 36th

"We just 'aint got it as good as we need it."

CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI (No. 43 Cheerios Heart Health Dodge Intrepid) -- Starts 42nd

"It's pretty different running over here, but all in all I'm pleased. We could have gone a little bit better, but it wasn't bad at all. This place is tough. I'm coming here and experiencing everything for the first time, and it's not easy."
