HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 6, 2014) - Ryan Truex and the No. 83 VooDoo BBQ & Grill Toyota Camry team finished 31st at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Sunday afternoon. Truex raced inside the top-25 for most of the day prior to having a tire go flat and brake rotor explode while slowing to miss an accident during the closing laps of the race. Unable to continue, Truex was scored with a 31st-place finish.
Truex rolled off 24th for the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. With no complaints on the handling of his car, Truex was able to race through the field and was scored inside the top 10 by lap 35. The VooDoo BBQ & Grill team made minor adjustments throughout the day to keep up with the changing track.
Racing in the 18th position with just eight laps remaining, Truex was headed toward the front of the field when a multi-car accident broke out in turn one. In an effort to miss the wreckage, Truex quickly slowed his pace, which caused a flat tire on his car. While making his way back to pit road, the brake rotor exploded causing terminal damage and ending Truex's race just a few laps prior to the scheduled distance.
"Our VooDoo BBQ & Grill team built a great Toyota Camry race car this weekend," commented Truex. "We were competitive in practice and qualified inside the top 25. We raced inside the top 25 nearly all day, and even logged several laps inside the top 10. Overall, I couldn't be more proud of the effort by our BK Racing team. The guys worked hard all day, but unfortunately our result won't reflect how well we raced here today. Our VooDoo BBQ & Grill team is definitely excited to come back to Talladega this October."
