While noting the news is 'untimely' as RFK Racing and the NASCAR community are still coming to terms with the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of Greg Biffle and six others, the team has confirmed that Brad Keselowski suffered a broken leg on Thursday.
Keselowski, who drives the No. 6 RFK Racing Ford and is a co-owner at the race team, was skiing with his family when the accident took place. He has undergone surgery on the injured leg, and expects to make a full recovery ahead of the 2026 season.
"First and foremost, our hearts remain heavy with the news of yesterday's tragic events," said the team in a statement. "The RFK Racing family, as well as the NASCAR community as a whole, continues to keep those close to the Biffle family and all those affected in our thoughts.
"Albeit untimely, we feel that in the interest of transparency we share RFK Racing co-owner and driver Brad Keselowski suffered a broken leg while on a ski trip with his family Thursday. Keselowski has successfully completed routine surgery, and doctors expect a quick and full recovery."
Keselowski, who won the 2012 NASCAR Cup Series championship with Penske, is 41 years old. The veteran driver ended the 2025 season 20th in the championship standings, and nearly won the season finale at Phoenix, finishing a close second to Ryan Blaney.
He posted a message on social media with photos from the hospital room, and said in a statement provided by RFK Racing:
"I'm grateful for the medical team who took great care of me and for the support system around me. My attention now is fully on recovery. I'm motivated to get back to full strength as quickly as possible and will work relentlessly to be ready for Daytona."
The incident happened on the same day as the fatal plane crash involving Biffle, and Keselowski said of the former Roush star's passing: "I broke my leg and was going into surgery when the tragic plane accident happened to Greg and his family. Not really sure the words to say so I’ll share a story:
"I called Greg a few years ago telling him my friend really needed a fun trip after losing a family member, could we all go ride his UTV’s together to show my friend a good time? Without missing a beat he made all the plans & we had a great sand dunes trip, my friend was all smiles. This trip means so much more now… this is my favorite Greg story, Will miss you and your family. #GodSpeed"
