Bowyer's Chase hopes suffer major blow at Atlanta

Clint Bowyer fell out of contention early in the going.

Clint Bowyer’s chase hopes took a bit of a dive in tonight’s Oral-B USA 500 as the shifter in his car broke.

Bowyer took his car to the garage when after reporting the issue to the team, saying "Shifter broke. Son of a bitch." Bowyer runs 22 laps down at the moment in 42nd position, only ahead of Mike Bliss.

He was tenth in the standings heading into this weekend and it appears he will lose his hold inside the Chase due to Kyle Larson's performance.
