THOUGHTS FROM BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
...FROM MOTOR RACING NETWORK, SEPT. 5:
(IS THERE ANY ONE TRACK LEFT ON THE SCHEDULE THAT THE TEAM IS CONCENTRATING ON MORE HEAVILY THAN ANOTHER?) "We just take it one race at a time. Really we're just trying to make sure we do everything right this weekend, and then we'll go to the next weekend and try to do that right. We've got a 111 point advantage, but that could go away real quick. I think our focus is to make sure we get through each race as good as possible and try to be as consistent as possible because, as you know, you can lose that many points and more in one race so you don't want to count on anything until it's about over. If we're 111 ahead or 111 behind we've still got to work hard at trying to be number one at the end, whatever it takes to get there."
...FROM FOX SPORTS NET, SEPT. 5:
(HOW DIFFICULT IS IT FOR HIM AND HIS TEAMMATES TO KEEP FROM THINKING ABOUT THE WINSTON CUP TITLE?): It guess it's easy to not think about it in one way because we've got some pretty fierce competitors right on us every weekend. We've got 10 races left and our goal right now is to concentrate on each weekend."
(HOW REALISTIC IS A DRIVER BOYCOTT AT NEW HAMPSHIRE?) "Right now I can't speculate on what's going to happen in two weeks. I just know that it's an important thing for all the drivers and we all need to be aware of it. When we get there we'll see what happens, we'll see what takes place. We're working on things ourselves to prevent a throttle from sticking, especially after having it happen to me [at Darlington]. We'll definitely work on it hard. There are people out there working on it harder than us to make it work. But until we get to Loudon, I can't really comment on it other than we know it is very important that we take care of the drivers."
(WOULD THE DRIVERS CONSIDER BOYCOTTING THE RACE?) "I don't think anybody wants to do that. I think we all want to go race. But at the same time we all want to be safe."
