Billy Stavola Comments on Bobby Allison
Cup Owner Proud to See Allison Elected into Hall of Fame
Harrisburg, N.C. (October 13, 2010) - The National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) today announced the inductees into the 2011 NASCAR Hall of Fame. The second class to enter the Hall includes David Pearson, Ned Jarrett, Lee Petty, Bud Moore and 1983 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Bobby Allison.
Allison completed three seasons with the Stavola Brothers driving the famed No. 22 Miller American and later Miller High Life Buick. During that time he collected one pole, 34 top-10 and 13 top-five finishes. The team also earned three wins including Allison's last victory, the 1988 Daytona 500.
Billy Stavola, who is now back into Sprint Cup ownership with partner Terry Labonte, was proud to see Allison elected into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Comments from Stavola Labonte Racing Co-Owner Billy Stavola on Allison Being Elected Into the NASCAR Hall of Fame:
"On behalf of myself and the entire Stavola family, I want to say congratulations to Bobby Allison on his election to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. I'm proud to have known and partnered with Bobby in his racing career and glad to call him a friend still today."
"I have always felt that Bobby was at the top of the list of the all-time great drivers, along with people like David Pearson, Richard Petty and AJ Foyt. Working with Bobby was a great experience. He was a terrific asset and brought the 'total package' to our team. It was an awesome moment for the Stavola brothers, and our families, when we won the Daytona 500 in 1988 with Bobby behind the wheel. We are proud to have been a part of his Hall of Fame career. "
