ELLIOTT TO DRIVE MCDONALD'S DODGE IN MICHIGAN; SPEEDWAY BRINGS OUT FOND MEMORIES FOR NASCAR LEGEND

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 14, 2005) -- Bill Elliott has had a special relationship withMichigan International Speedway ever since he competed in his first race at thetwo-mile oval in June of 1976.

And after a year's absence from MIS, the redhead from Georgiareturns to one of his favorite tracks forthis weekend's Nextel Cup race.He will be driving the No. 91 McDonald's Dodge Charger in the Batman Begins 400.

Speaking of Batman and McDonald's,when Elliottdrove the McDonald's Batman Forever car in 1995, it was the first-themed car that competed in a NASCAR Cup race. McDonald's was Elliott's primary sponsor from 1995-2000.

Sunday's race will be Elliott's fifth of the season as he continues to run a part-time schedule under the Evernham Motorsports umbrella. His previous races were at California, Atlanta, Texas and Charlotte.

"Anytime I can race at Michigan, I feel like I'm back home," said Elliott. "I've been fortunate over the years to have raced well there and come away with some victories."

Actually, Elliott has won seven times at MIS, making him the track's fourth all-time winningest driver. He also has claimed six poles -- only David Pearon with 10 has had more No. 1 starting spots at MIS.

But when it comes to top 10s at the Michigan track,Elliott is the leader with 29.

"My goal is to have a competitive race on Sunday," offered Elliott. "This weekend will bring back plenty of fond memories -- Michigan International Speedway, McDonald's and Batman.

"Yeah, I remember that Batman ride in 1995 -- it was in Charlotte and I think I got my wings clipped in the race. Hopefully we can get the McDonald's Dodge up front on Sunday and come away with a solid finish. I am ready for the challenge."

Elliott's best stretch at the two-mile Michigan track was from June, 1984 to August, 1986. During this period he won five out of the six races, including four straight. The race he didn't win, he finished third.
