Bill Elliott, driver of the No. 21 Little Debbie Ford Fusion, was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame last Wednesday during a ceremony in Detroit, ahead of this weekend's race at Michigan International Speedway.
BILL ELLIOTT -- No. 21 Little Debbie Ford Fusion
IN A CAREER FILLED WITH HONORS, WHERE DOES BEING INDUCTED INTO THE MOTORSPORTS HALL OF FAME RATE?
"It would have to be way up there. Everything, to me is a building block. You know, you go through your career and you do different things, and now I look back and it just seemed like yesterday you were starting all of this building, and now you look back at all the things that you accomplished and all the things you did -- and, really, how hard it was to do at that point in time. In some ways it was easy and in some ways it was very difficult, but it's still a special part. It's time to reflect back on all the people that supported you, helped you and did all the things that they sacrificed to help you, and that's what it means to you today. It's a very special part. I just wish my mother and dad, and Harry Melling, a lot of people that were instrumental in helping me get to the point that I was at to be inducted, because it's not all about me. It's all about everyone that was involved, that helped, that made a contribution to put me in there. It isn't all about me, but it is a very special honor to be in that Hall of Fame."
EDDIE WOOD -- co-owner, No. 21 Little Debbie Ford Fusion
YOU WERE PRESENT WHEN BILL ELLIOTT WAS INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME. HOW DID HE REACT?
"I think he was really moved by that. He gave a really, really good speech. Everybody that got inducted was from different forms of racing. It was very, very interesting. It was the third one that had been to, and you see a lot of people that you hear about. It was a cool thing, and Bill was very appreciative of it. The honor is very well deserved. The guy has won 44 of these races. I know why -- he's good."
