Major League Baseball Properties and RadioShack will commemorate the opening of the 2002 Major League Baseball season with a specially designed MLB themed racecar, which will be driven by #10 Valvoline Pontiac driver Johnny Benson in the Samsung/RadioShack 500 on Sunday, April 7. RadioShack, an official sponsor of Major League Baseball, is a first-time title sponsor of this NASCAR Winston Cup Series race at the Texas Motor Speedway. The race coincides with the Texas Rangers home opening series against the Anaheim Angels, April 5-7 at the Ballpark at Arlington.

"It's an honor for our Valvoline Pontiac to carry the Major League Baseball banner during the Samsung/RadioShack 500 in Texas," said Johnny Benson. "The guys on our team are really excited about our baseball relationship and we certainly hope we can take Major League Baseball to Victory Lane on Sunday."

"Valvoline is honored to be part of this Major League Baseball event," said Jim Rocco, Senior Vice President, The Valvoline Company and Co-Owner #10. "Racing is an important part of Valvoline's business and important to our customers. By joining these two great American past times Valvoline hopes everyone will have a good time during the race weekend and opening weekend in Texas."

This special car is designed in a red, white and blue color scheme, with blue over top, red around the sides and white around the bottom. A special MLB logo commemorating Opening Day 2002, featuring the special stars and stripes MLB silhouetted batter logo, is on the hood, while the RadioShack "Official Sponsor of Major League Baseball" logo appears on all angles of the car. Johnny Benson's #10 appears in white paint on the roof, and is featured next to images of a pitcher in mid stride and batter in mid swing on the side panels. The Texas Rangers logo appears on both rear quarter panels of the car.

To commemorate this unique relationship and racecar, RadioShack will sell 5,000 officially licensed radio controlled replicas of the MLB themed racecar exclusively through 1-800-The Shack beginning April 1. The car will retail for $79.99 and will come with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
