Blaney to compete this weekend in Texas
High Point, NC (April 1) -- Dave Blaney will compete this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway in the #23 Dodge. Bill Davis, owner of the #23, has entered into a sponsorship agreement with Batesville Speedway. Mooney Starr, the owner and promoter of Batesville Speedway, has been a long-time supporter of local dirt track racing and felt this would be a unique way to help a longtime friend and also give something back to the local racing community.
"The intention of this sponsorship is to give Dirt Track Racing a better image," said Davis. "A lot of these guys in our sport have gotten their start on dirt and progressed to pavement and I think that has been lost on some of our sport's new fans. Dirt track racing is an important element in the development of racecar drivers. Most of the drivers in Cup enjoy racing on dirt today. These guys like Ken Schrader, Dave Blaney and Kenny Wallace all spend a lot of time racing on dirt. I think this is a real exciting deal for us."
The #23 Bill Davis Racing entry will be sponsored by Batesville Speedway and also carry decals of it's two primary events in 2004, the Alltel 100 for Modifieds and the Comp Cams Topless 100 for Late Model Stocks. Bad Boy Mowers of Batesville, AR will also lend support to Davis' #23. Bad Boy Mowers, established in 1998, manufactures a zero turn radius commercial mower catering to experts in the commercial turf industry.
"I'm very appreciative of this opportunity to put Dave back on the race track where he belongs," said Davis. "Dave is a tremendous racer and we think he can go to Texas and run competitively, just as he did in Daytona and Atlanta. "Bill Davis Racing has a lot of confidence in Dave Blaney and we are committed to putting in a fully-funded NASCAR NEXTEL Cup program."
Batesville Speedway is located in Locust Grove, Arkansas. It is a 3/8-mile, red clay oval nestled in the foot hills of the Ozark Mountains in North Central Arkansas.
