From the No. 54 National Guard Cockpit: Driver Todd Bodine
Why do you consider Atlanta to be one of your favorite tracks?
"It requires the complete race package. You've got to have horsepower, a good aero package, a solid set up underneath you and rock solid pit stops."
"Everything comes into play here. For me as the driver, I enjoy driving around a place that requires a ton of momentum. It's a fast, fast place. It's requires a significant amount of corner speed and to be fast, you can't afford to let up or brake."
"Atlanta remains a challenge for me in the sense that my results are not where I want them to be. I've run well but the bottom line does not reflect it. I am going to do everything I can to change that trend starting this weekend. I expect our National Guard car to be wicked fast."
From the No. 54 National Guard War Wagon: Crew Chief Derrick Finley
What are your expectations for this weekend?
"We should have another good car for Todd. I am looking to have our National Guard car run with the right amount of down force and attitude. Last year in the fall race, we missed on the set up before losing an engine. We've gone over our notes and after evaluating the situation; we know what we need to do to turn things around in a positive way. Todd should enjoy driving the Guard car this weekend."
"We hope to have a good qualifying run, however, Todd showed us in Vegas last weekend it's not the end of the world if we fall short of a top 10 starting spot. We'll be doing everything we can for him to have the momentum to carry it throughout all four corners. If he can put the lap together, he should be tough to beat."
Are you happy with the team's overall performance?
"Definitely. Our cars have been very competitive. We've just come up short because of bad circumstances. Todd is doing an awesome job for us, so all we need to do is be patient. It will all come together.
