Scott Riggs Quotes:
"We had a tough race last week in Las Vegas but this Valvoline/Stanley Tools team knows that we could have finished in the top 10 or even top five. This weekend at Atlanta we will have another chance to do just that. Valvoline Evernham Racing is moving in the right direction, the more races we run the better we get. So far we have shown a ton of potential. I am proud of my guys and I can't wait to get back on the track and get the finishes I know we are capable of."
Rodney Childers Quotes:
"The Valvoline/Stanley Dodge Charger that we are taking this weekend is one that Mayfield drove last year. We cut the body off of it and shifted some things in the chassis. It performed well in the wind tunnel, so I am confident it will be a good car for Atlanta."
"Our game plan this weekend is to get some more points so we are well inside the top 35 by Martinsville. I feel like we should be sitting about 23rd by that time, but our finish last weekend cost us some ground. We had issues with our pit stops and Scott got a speeding penalty on pit road, which is really uncharacteristic because he has never gotten one of those. Either way this weekend I wanted to be gunning for a top five and the win, but we just need to get a solid 15th place finish."
Sunday's race will mark Riggs fourth NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Last spring he collected his best start and finish at the speedway when he started 17th and finished ninth.
In three Nextel Cup Series races at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Riggs has collected one top-10 finish and $284,627.
Since Valvoline Evernham Racing is a new team in 2006 they still have to qualify their way into Sunday's race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, as well as Bristol next week until the top 35 are locked in. Because they are already within the top 35 in owners points, they will be locked in the race even if qualifying rains out.
Last weekend at Las Vegas Riggs drove inside the top 10 for much of the race but had to settle for a 28th-place finish due to a pit road penalty.
