* Fresh off a ninth-place finish last weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kasey Kahne returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway, a track the driver of the No. 9 Budweiser Ford notes as one of his favorites on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule. In 12 starts at the speedway, he has two wins, including last September's Pep Boys Auto 500, in which he led on six occasions for a total of 60 laps.
* Kahne has also scored one pole award, five top-five and seven top-10 finishes at AMS. His average start in the spring race at the track is 8.7 and his average finish is13.8.
* Kahne's ninth-place finish in last weekend's Shelby American at LVMS vaulted him up 10 positions in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings to 23rd. He sits 38 points outside of the top 20 and is just 98 points back from the 12th position.
Kasey Kahne discusses racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway:
What is it that you like about Atlanta? "Atlanta is one of my favorite race tracks. It's a fast track and it's wide enough so there are multiple grooves for racing. I like the fact that it lets the driver figure out where the car is handling best. It makes it a little more challenging, but it's also a lot of fun."
Talk about the multiple grooves at AMS. "Your car may be good on the bottom early in the race, but as the track changes the car may work better up top. It's important to move around to make sure you are running the quickest line. A line that didn't work early may be the right line later in the race. Just because another driver is having success with one line doesn't mean the setup you have in your car will automatically produce the same kind of results."
