"The mile and a half tracks have been good to us this year with solid runs at Texas, Charlotte and Atlanta. I don't see any reason we can't be there at the finish this weekend, and for a lack of better words, we're due." - Elliott Sadler on 1.5 mile tracks--
ELLIOTT SADLER'S VIEW FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT:
"I like racing at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Its real fast and we will have to have a good balance with the right aerodynamic and chassis setups. The car has to handle well at Atlanta and there are at least three grooves that typically develop during the race. You can pass anywhere and it's the fastest unrestricted track on the circuit. Last race we started and finished well so I expect the same this weekend. I know the Robert Yates horsepower will make the M&M's team a threat this weekend. Doug (Yates) and the rest of the engine shop guys have really dug in deep these past few weeks and given us some serious power. We've got everything we need to be winning races, now all we need is some luck."
"I know talk is sometimes cheap but tearing up racecars isn't. I think we have a good chance of redemption here in the last four races of the season because we ran well in Atlanta in the spring, we'll probably use the same setup and also have Phoenix and Rockingham to look forward to as well. Rockingham owes us one and I know we'll run well in Phoenix. The top-20 is still an attainable goal for the M&M'S team."
CAR CHIEF DAVE SMITH'S ON THE M&M'S CAR HISTORY:
"We are taking RYR chassis No. 137 this weekend to Atlanta. It was tested earlier this season at Lowe's Motor Speedway and ran really well for us. We originally planned on taking the car Elliott ran two weeks ago at Charlotte but this car ran at Michigan earlier this year and is just as fast."
SPOTTER BRETT GRIFFIN'S VIEW FROM THE TOP OF ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY:
"Atlanta is one of the fastest tracks on the circuit so when you say clear to a driver you want to make double sure he's clear. The track is a very racy track because you every groove works at Atlanta. Most 1.5 mile tracks require the cars to be setup to run around the bottom, which kind of makes for a boring race. Atlanta is more like a supped up Rockingham because the drivers run all over the place and put on a great show."
