JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DUPONT MONTE CARLO

Note Gordon went to the garage on lap 179 with a broken rear-end gear, which was repaired, and returned to the track on lap 204.

"Something went wrong with the rearend we think. When they dropped the jack, I started to go and then the DuPont Chevrolet stopped and would not go forward. It is really unfortunate that's for sure. I am going to pull for Jimmy (Johnson) and Brian (Vickers).

"Nothing was really going our way today. I knew that Kurt (Busch) had his problems but we weren't able to capitalize on them and can't for sure now."

ON BEING ABLE TO FOCUS IN THE CAR TODAY: "You know once you get in that race car, it becomes all about the team and the racecar. I was excited to get in the car today and going out there and having a shot at winning this race. I thought we did. We took off there in the beginning, we were pretty good but it started to go away pretty quickly and we couldn't get it back."

TODD BERRIER, CREW CHIEF, NO. 29 GM GOODWRENCH MONTE CARLO:

"We battled a tight race car all day and had hoped we could get a good finish, but something broke in the motor. We don't know what."

DALE EARNHARDT, JR., NO. 8 BUDWEISER MONTE CARLO

ON CRASH THAT PUT HIM OUT OF RACE TO FINISH 33RD: "I was racing for the win there, but I think I came up on Carl (Edwards) there and turned myself into the inside fence there and tore my car up. We had a good car today. It was kind of disappointing to lose all those points but I don't think it was Carl's fault there. I just came up on him I think and it went from there.

ON CHASE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP: "I am not worried about the points. We came here to win the race and that is what I was trying to do. We could have gained a lot of points and that would have been nice but it is hard to race like that for me. My car was really good there at the end. I had a car good enough to win the race and that is what I was trying to do was win.

TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT MONTE CARLO:

ON TODAY'S RACE AND FINISH: "We still need to be better than we are. One thing you never have to doubt is the commitment of this Home Depot team and Zippy (Greg Zipadelli) We made a mistake there like mark did when we got a lap down. I hope they never mess with this place like they have other places and repave it because when you are running in ninth and a lap down, it is so fast and so racey. It was a good points race for us today. But we need to be better than we've been, we aren't that bad but we need to get a little better. We got where we had a pretty competitive car but just got in trouble with those two long green flag runs and got a lap down. I like it when it gets like that. You can really weed out some cars so I wish we could have stayed on the lead lap and raced those guys for a top-five.

"It is easy to get down when you have been off just a tick with the car like we have been but the guys kept me pumped up on the radio today and kept telling me what was going on with Kurt (Busch) and everyone."

ON HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS WINNING THE RACE: "Mark Martin is my hero but it makes me proud for the Hendrick organization to have them overcome what they have had to deal with this week and win this race.

DID YOU THINK OF SCOTT LATHRAM TODAY: "At least twice that I can think of because I was wrecking all over the place out there and didn't hit anything. So I know he was looking out for me."

ROBBIE LOOMIS, CREW CHIEF, NO. 24 DUPONT CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:

YOU'VE HAD A BAD DAY, BUT YOU'VE GOT TO FEEL GREAT FOR THE NO. 48 LOWE'S TEAM: "I feel great for the whole Hendrick organization. This is a shot in the arm to get things rolling. Our thoughts and prayers go to our loved ones. It's been an incredible day for the Lowe's team and the DuPont team has got to get to work."

CHAD KNAUS, CREW CHIEF, NO. 48 LOWE'S CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:

"This is just an awesome day. I've got to thank everybody at Hendrick Motorsports for getting up and doing what they needed to do and what Rick (Hendrick) loves the most and that's racing. To be able to pull of this victory is just awesome."

WHAT WERE YOUR EMOTIONS WHEN JIMMIE JOHNSON TOOK THE CHECKERED FLAG? "I was teary-eyed, there's no doubt about it."

JOE NEMECHEK, NO. 01 U.S. ARMY MONTE CARLO:

"It was hot out there. I just poured a bottle of water over my head. Congratulations to Jimmie Johnson and all of Hendrick Motorsports team. That's good medicine right there for everybody involved in that tragedy. It was an awesome day for the U.S. Army team. Brian Pemberton made good calls. I was loose there in the beginning and he got my car right so I could drive it. And then we drove from 20th back to third or fourth. There at the end, he made a call and we got two tires. I had a shot at maybe winning that race. I got caught behind the slowest lapped car. The No. 15 just held me up there and I couldn't go. We got lucky and came out of here fourth but I think we had a car that maybe could have finished first or second. We'll take that. We're building momentum. This team is on fire right now."

ROBBY GORDON, NO. 31 CINGULAR WIRELESS MONTE CARLO:

"We had an awesome Cingular Wireless Chevrolet all day and even more awesome pit stops. Then, I don't know why, or what happened. It's been like this all year for us. We run so strong, but our finishes don't show it. My front brakes just decided to checkout, then we were held for a lap because the official thought I didn't have a brake pedal and I did. We easily had a top-10 car today and I thought for sure we would finish on the lead lap."

JEFF BURTON, NO. 30 AMERICA ONLINE MONTE CARLO:

"It was a pretty good day. We came from a long way back having to start there in the back. We got a lap down there one time but we raced back by Mark (Martin) there and got it back so that was good for us. We never got it right, but we got it right enough to hang in there to fight all day. Our stops help us keep our track position good. We just need to keep working together and we are going to win a race. I like these cars. I can drive them. You can really manhandle them and the engines run great. So just a few more tweaks and improvements and we will be right there."
