Target Team Facts:
* The red and white are back: The Target Dodge will assume its red and white colors after four weeks of special paint schemes. Mears completed 927 laps in the pink No. 41 Dodge at Talladega, Kansas and Martinsville. Team Target will be making a donation to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation for the laps he completed.
* Championship Standings: Mears and the Target Team slipped to 22nd in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Standings after finishing 29th at Martinsville last weekend.
* Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target Team are bringing chassis #306 to Atlanta Motor Speedway. The team tested this chassis at AMS last week and recently raced it at California Speedway. It has two top-10 finishes to its credit this season -- California and Charlotte.
* Atlanta: Mears has two very significant memories of Atlanta Motor Speedway. His first was a multi-car pile up at AMS in 2001 when he filled in for the injured Alex Zanardi in the IRL Series. Mears and his car were launched over three other cars, but he walked away unscathed. His second, running up front for 37 laps in the March NEXTEL Cup race this season.
Casey Mears Quotes:
On Atlanta... "I think we have a great car for Atlanta," said Mears. "I really feel good about the race after testing last week. I'm kind of anxious because the test went so well for us. I feel like we have a better car than we did in March, and we would have finished in the top five if the engine didn't break. The guys at the shop and the engine shop have worked hard to improve the Target Dodge and I think we'll see that this weekend."
On Ricky Hendrick... "Ricky has been one of my closest friends since I moved to Charlotte. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Hendrick family and to the families and friends of those on the plane. They will be missed."
