Atwood looks to compose a hit in Atlanta.
Sirius Racing team confident that it can improve upon March performance.
ATLANTA (Oct. 22, 2002) - Casey Atwood and the Sirius Racing team enter Atlanta and this weekend's NAPA 500 after posting a twenty-first place finish last Sunday at Martinsville Speedway. Atwood remains 33rd in the NASCAR Winston Cup standings.
Atwood's comments on this weekend's NAPA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway
"There are a few tracks that I've always struggled on and that's the bigger, banked tracks like Atlanta. It's not that I've never done well there. My first Busch race I went from a provisional to leading the race. I led the race for a long time and ended up finishing in the top-10. I made up three laps there. I haven't had a good record there but I've been there a bunch and I'm pretty familiar with it. We just haven't had the track record there that we've wanted."
"I wish we were going to another short track, but we'll take the momentum to Atlanta and try to keep it going. We had a good weekend in Martinsville, so we'll try to carry that over. We're taking a brand new car this weekend. I'm pretty excited about it. Ray's (Evernham) shop put the body on it - we'd been sending them out for bodies. It'll be just like the cars that Bill and Jeremy take, so I'm pretty pumped up about that."
