MARK MARTIN - No. 6 Viagra Taurus
"We have a great race team and had a better car than that, but we had a problem on a green flag stop that caused us to get a lap down and not be able to get it back. We were in the lucky dog spot forever at the end there and didn't get the caution. We seem to get them when we're not in the right spot, but that's OK. We have a great race team, had a great effort and had a reasonable finish. It was a top 10 car, I just didn't get my lap back. I was real close and I would have if a caution had come out in the last 75 laps. If that would have happened, then we could have gone right up into the top 10, but that's OK. We're running good and working well together."
GREG BIFFLE - No. 16 National Guard/Subway Taurus
"The National Guard/Subway car was pretty decent today. We had great, great pit stops all day and track position, with how aerodynamic these cars are is real important. They missed the lugnut on the left side when they stuck the wheel. I automatically give them three seconds and then I put my foot over the gas pedal to anticipate leaving and when I let up on the brake they hadn't gotten the wheel on it yet, so it was just one of those things. Maybe we can try to figure out how to hold the brake longer but be ready when they drop the jack to go. It's not a bad day. I feel pretty happy about it. Doug and all the guys made good calls and I think we know what we need to do to be a little bit better here."
MATT KENSETH - No. 17 DEWALT Tools Taurus
"I'm happy with the overall result considering everything that went wrong. At the beginning of the race we had a lot better car than that and I messed it up. I feel bad about that, but even if we would have been in the front, we didn't have better than a sixth-place car at the end. We were just really tight and no matter how much we adjusted, we just couldn't get the car to turn the way we needed to. In the middle of the race the track got tight and we could never fix it."
IT WAS A GOOD COMEBACK. "Yeah, it was a good comeback. I made a dumb mistake getting on pit road and we didn't have a lot of cautions to come back from it, so, overall, I'm pretty happy with the result."
DALE JARRETT - No. 88 UPS Taurus
YOU HAD A CONSISTENT DAY TODAY. "Yeah, it was. We helped the car somewhat, but we could never get it exactly right. We fought it loose in and then I would get tight off. We tried to fix some of it and make it do different things, but Mike did a good job and the pit crew did a much better job this week, so we're gaining on it."
DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE A FOUNDATION TO BUILD ON NOW? "Yeah. We're working and we've got ourselves positioned around the top 10 whereas last year we were trying to go from 25th to 20th or 15th. Now we're going from 10th to trying to position ourselves around the top five. Then you can start worrying about victories, but we're doing things we need to do."
KURT BUSCH - No. 97 Sharpie/IRWIN Taurus
"It was just a stubborn car. We had a real good car on Friday and I wrecked it by accident. The crew rallied around me and we got a good car underneath us and qualified 20th, so it was a big team effort. Today, any adjustment we made the car never really reacted. We were loose here, tight there, loose here like we were ready to spin out and ready to knock the wall down tight. It was all over the map, so it's just a stubborn car with the new tire."
HAPPY WITH THE START TO THE SEASON? "Yeah, it isn't bad. It's a great start to a year with four races down. Our worst finish is 16th and that was due to an unscheduled pit stop at Daytona, so for us it's just a tribute to a great car. The engine program has really stepped up and that's what's enabling us to finish well. We just need to get better on the chassis side."
RICKY RUDD - No. 21 Motorcraft Taurus
"We ended up having a tire equalize and had to make an extra pit stop. If it wasn't for that we would have probably finished 22nd or so, but that's still not a great day. If anything good came out of it is that they started hitting on some stuff at the end of the race. That's not the time to do it, but at least we were able to find out what was controlling the car as it relates to this new tire."
ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 38 M&M's Taurus
"Wow, that was a bad day. We fell backwards right off the bat because the car was extremely loose going in the corner, in the middle of the corner and coming off the corner. We had a great weekend until that green flag dropped and then it just went sour. Todd and the guys made some major adjustments throughout the whole race and we just rode around. We're all scratching our heads pretty hard right now and we'll have to go back to the drawing board and do our homework to get ready for Darlington next week."
