Lally is Ready to Take a Shot at Taming Darlington
Mooresville, NC (May 5, 2011) -- TRG Motorsports driver Andy Lally prepares to take the No. 71 Interstate Moving Services Ford just a short trip south of the shop for the running of the SHOWTIME Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway this Saturday night May 7th at 7:30 pm.
Lally will be making his first career Darlington start after wrapping up a satisfying 26th place finish in Richmond last weekend.
"I've heard Darlington is a tricky place to tame, but I'm ready to give it my best this weekend," said Lally. "With Mother's Day on Sunday, I'd really like to give my mom a great present by having a good finish in Darlington. I know it's not going to be an easy task, but Doug Richert and I have had all week at the shop to work on a few things with the car which will make a significant difference on the track. I am really excited for this weekend."
"Andy and Doug have spent a good amount of time working together this week at the shop and I think it'll translate to our performance this weekend," said TRG Motorsports owner Kevin Buckler. "Andy did a great job for us last weekend in Richmond avoiding the wrecks and bringing the No. 71 Interstate Moving Services Ford Fusion back to the shop with only a small dent on the quarter panel. Andy's confidence is getting better with each race and I think this weekend he's got a great shot at taming Darlington."
Doug Richert has been working hard getting the No. 71 prepared as best as possible for Darlington. "We've checked and prepared the car as best as we can for this weekend's race including a session at the pull down rig to get the settings dialed in. As well as he adapted in Richmond, I am confident Andy will get the job done this weekend. Good drivers always find a way to get it done even at a tough track like Darlington," said TRG Motorsports crew chief, Doug Richert.
