Ambrose's Chase hopes slipping away with Watkins Glen defeat
Time is running out for Marcos Ambrose.
Time is running out for Australian racer Marcos Ambrose as his best chance at victory slipped away from him in the final laps at Watkins Glen. He now has four races to either win or fight his way into NASCAR's post-season via points.
The next four races will all be contested on ovals, a track type Ambrose has failed to win on in eight years of NASCAR competition. He is a full race outside the cut-off in terms of points, 50 back of Clint Bowyer. In fact, he lost ground Sunday due a new winner taking up another spot.
There has been speculation that Ambrose will leave the sport at season's end and go back home to race V8 Supercars, so this could be his very last chance at making a run at NASCAR's most coveted prize.
