Statesville, N.C. (May 18, 2010) - This weekend is the one time during the NASCAR season when teams, drivers and sponsors can give back to the fans who follow them all season long. Travis Kvapil and the No. 34 $1 Baja Fish Taco Ford Fusion team will celebrate all-star activities this weekend at the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway.
For the second consecutive weekend, Kvapil will carry the blue and yellow colors of the $1 Baja Fish Taco available only at Long John Silver's restaurants nationwide. The car will compete in the Sprint Showdown prior to the Sprint All-Star event. The top two finishers of the Sprint Showdown will automatically transfer into the All-Star main event with one last spot going to the winner of the All-Star fan vote.
Over the past month, fans of the Long John Silver's $1 Baja Fish Taco have been voting and encouraging fans of Travis Kvapil and Front Row Motorsports to vote Kvapil into the All-Star race this Saturday night. Fans can vote up until one hour prior to the start of the actual All-Star event at www.nascar.com/promos/allstar/2010/vote or by texting the word "vote" to the number 7777. Fan votes on a Sprint handheld phone will count double for Kvapil.
"Just like NASCAR fans, we at Long John Silver's are dedicated to Travis and the No. 34 team," said Emil Brolick, President of Long John Silver's. "We're thrilled to have put the $1 Baja Fish Taco at NASCAR's All-Star event and look forward to seeing all the fans in our restaurants."
This marks the second year of Long John Silver's partnership with Front Row Motorsports to sponsor Travis and team No. 34 with the popular blue and yellow colors.
"It's been a blast carrying the Long John Silver's $1 Baja Fish Taco colors again and now it's all about saying thanks to our fans across the country that have supported our small but mighty team," said Kvapil. "We look forward to celebrating at a local Long John Silver's with a $1 Baja Fish Taco in hand, and encourage all the fans out there to do the same."
