SHOWDOWN SUMMARIES

Scott Speed, driver, No. 82: Speed started 20th in Saturday night's Sprint Showdown, and the 40-lap transfer race proved to be a valuable trial run as the rookie prepares for his first 600-miler on Sunday. The team pitted twice to dial in the No. 82 Red Bull Toyota, and it worked. Speed ran a clean race and finished 19th.

Brian Vickers, driver, No. 83: Rain washed out qualifying for the Sprint Showdown, and had NASCAR lined up the field via car owners points, Brian Vickers' No. 83 would have started third. Instead, the qualifying draw determined the starting lineup, and Vickers rolled off 31st with only 40 laps to get to the front. He never made it, as contact with the No. 20 on lap nine damaged the left front of Vickers' Red Bull Toyota. Two laps later, the tire blew. Evening over!
