Budweiser Racing Team Notes of Interest

* This Saturday, Kasey Kahne and the Budweiser Team will defend their title as the Sprint All-Star Champions at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Kahne and 21 other drivers will compete for a $1,000,000 jackpot in the 25th running of the non-points events.

* In 2008, Kahne became the first driver to win the fan vote and continue on to win the All-Star Race.

* In five starts in the All-Star race, Kahne has one win, one pole award and two top-10 finishes.

Kahne discusses racing in the All-Star Race Lowe's Motor Speedway:

As the defending winner of the Sprint All-Star Race, you have mentioned several times that the night is all about the fans. "Absolutely, it's all about the fans. We couldn't have won last year without the fans voting us into the race. The drivers and crews are out there to thank the fans and put on a good show for them. NASCAR wouldn't have a 10-lap shootout at the end if they weren't trying to do something exciting for the fans."

How different do you set your car up for short runs in the All-Star Race, 10-20 laps or so? Are your air pressures the same? "Usually you can mess with air pressures a little bit. It's kind of like if you find whatever air pressure makes your car right on a 60-lap run or a 45-lap run, it is about the same pressure I would say that is going to make it right on a 20-lap run. That's what I've learned in the past. We've tried messing with tires with 10 to go in a race and usually it doesn't work a whole lot. Usually you have your balance for your setup and that's what it is. More times than not, whatever that tire pressure your car likes at the start of a run is what you're going to run on a 75-lap run or a 20-lap run."

How different is your mindset going into a non-points event weekend? "I think the Sprint All-Star Race is going to be a lot of fun. It's pretty cool to go out there and really have nothing to lose. You don't have to worry about the points or anything like that. It's pretty much, go all out and try to win the thing and don't worry about salvaging a top five or something like that."

Pit Crew Challenge Format-

No. 9 Budweiser crew members will have their chance to shine this week when they compete in the Pit Crew Challenge on May 14th. 24 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams will compete in a skills challenge to determine who is the best pit crew is in the Sprint Cup Series garage. Individuals will also be competing to find out who the fastest crew member in the garage is. Fans can attend the event in person on Thursday in Charlotte at the Time Warner Arena or watch the event on the SPEED channel at 9 p.m. EDT.
