TEAM CHEVY IMPALA SS - INSIDE THE GARAGE AT LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY, SPRINT ALL-STAR RACE -- PAT SUHY, GM RACING NASCAR GROUP MANAGER: "The Sprint Showdown and All-Star races have a new dynamic this year. While the races present our Chevy teams the opportunity to have fun, race for a share of big prize money and bring family, friends and employees to the track who as a rule don't come, this weekend will also serve as the only opportunity to gather data for the upcoming Coca Cola 600.
"With the ban NASCAR has in place, teams in conjunction with GM Racing engineers did not have the customary May test session at Lowe's to work on setups and fine tune strategies for the season's longest race. So, the practice sessions, qualifying and the races will provide valuable information for our teams to carry forward to the following weekend.
"So far this season, our Impala SS race cars have been solid on the 1.5-mile tracks. Jeff Gordon got the win at Texas and we had strong showings in the top-five at both Las Vegas and Atlanta. The tireless efforts of our GM Racing group working with our teams have strengthened our intermediate track performance, however, Charlotte does present a unique set of challenges. It will be critical to take advantage of every second of available track time.
"We are looking forward to an exciting All-Star weekend and another of Team Chevy driver taking home the big win."
