The Associated Press is reporting that A.J. Allmendinger is bringing in his own toxicologist and attorney as NASCAR finalizes the analysis of his second drug test – after the Penske Racing driver tested positive on a first test last week. Allmendinger's camp refuted the AP claim on Friday, saying that the attorney will not be present as NASCAR rules only allow either the presence of the driver, or a qualified toxicologist to represent the driver.

Allmendinger was reported to be bringing the experts in to witness the testing of his ‘B’ sample, which was requested by the driver after his ‘A’ sample resulted in a positive test.

The driver’s camp released a statement Wednesday saying that Allmendinger tested positive for a stimulant, and insisted that the Californian has never knowingly ingested a banned substance.

NASCAR suspended the Penske driver on the afternoon of last week’s Coca-Cola 400 and the continuing fight has sidelined Allmendinger for this weekend’s event in Loudon. Former Indianapolis 500 champion Sam Hornish Jr. has taken over the seat in the team’s #22 Dodge in both instances.
