OSWEGO,NY....Two of the top Super Modified chauffeurs in racing today have now officially entered the 52nd Annual Sunoco Race of Champions. Mike Ordway and Dave McKnight have entered the Modified 200 setfor September 20th and 21st at Oswego Speedway.
Ordway has been virtually unstoppable this season at Oswego Speedway. The veteran Super Modified pilot has only made a handful of appearances in 2002 but they have been productive ones. His knowledge of Oswego Speedway will certainly be a huge benefit when he hops aboard a Modified for the prestigious Sunoco Race of Champions.
For McKnight, this will be his first ever Sunoco Race of Champions start. The Brampton, Ontario driver has had tremendous success behind the wheel of a Super Modified in the past. McKnight is the defending ISMA winger Super Modified Champion. He became the first Canadian driver to win that title and has logged 22 feature wins in a SuperModified. He will be behind the wheel of the Tom McGrath backup Modified for the R.o.C. In August McGrath was on his way to victory at Oswego until a mechanical problem sidelined him while leading.
Both drivers will be hoping to use their local knowledge in trying to win the 52nd Annual Sunoco Race of Champions Modified 200 title. They will have their hands full as close to 70 other drivers will be looking for the crown. Modified ace George Kent will be trying to become the first driver to ever win three consecutive R.o.C victories. Drivers like Ted Christopher, Sege Fidanza, Jan Leaty, T.J. Potrzebowski, Eric Beers, Pete Brittain, Tony Hirschman, Charlie Pasteryak, John Blewett and many, many others will be in competition.
In addition, Winston Cup star Tony Stewart will be behind the wheel of the Ted Christopher backup car for this year's event. Stewart will be looking to nothing other than win the 200.
