Steckly posts best Delaware finish

Scott Steckly in the #22 Racing Erb Group/AW Millwrights Pontiac posted his career best Delaware finish this weekend in the Mopar 250 with a sixth place finish. This was the first event of twelve on the 2001 CASCAR Castrol Super Series Chase for the Cup tour. Steckly timed at 19.830, which lined them up eleventh on the grid for the start of the 250 lap main event.

Steckly ran another patient race, a style for which he has become known. After their pit stop on lap 94 Steckly moved towards the front and when all the other teams completed their stops Steckly was running in second. On lap 130 the Erb/AW Millwrights Pontiac moved into the lead, a position they enjoyed until lap 169 when eventual winner Kerry Micks took over the point. A late pit stop for a right front tire moved them to the end of the lead lap cars but Steckly worked his way up to sixth when the checkered flag fell.

The 22 Racing Team has increased backing from New Hamburg's Erb Group of Companies this year. They will be a co-title sponsor with AW Millwrights, a long time supporter of Steckly. Thus the new paint theme. Red on the front half of the car with the Erb logo and green on the rear half of the car with the AW Millwrights designation. Returning associate sponsors include FAG Automotive, Pro-Lift Service, Holloway Auto Supply, Jutzi Race Fuels and Kittmer Enterprises.

Scott Steckly and the 22 Racing team would like to thank Wendell Erb and his recruitment staff who attended this event to cheer them on.

The next event for the #22 Erb Group/AW Millwrights Pontiac will be held at Peterborough Speedway -- Saturday May 26, 2001.
