Tuesday September 5, 2000: Stratford area native Scott Steckly in the #22 AW Millwrights/Erb Transport Pontiac posted a twelfth place finish in the CARQUEST 300 on Sunday before a record crowd at Delaware Speedway Park.

Steckly who time trialed 8th fastest out of a field of forty-two cars posted his best qualifying effort in CASCAR to date. Unfortunately during post race inspection, it was determined that the #22 car was to low and they were disqualified. This forced the AW Millwrights team to line up last, in twentieth position for start of their 100 lap qualifier the Blue Streak 100. Steckly ran well and finished the race in 8th lining them up eighteenth on the grid for Sunday's CARQUEST 300.

Steckly who has shown patience during these long races again used the same strategy. By lap fifty the 22 Pontiac was into the thirteenth position and moving up. During a caution on lap 100, Steckly pitted for tires and fuel and set out on the move to the front again. On lap 240 they were caught up in a wreck but after removing the front body panels they returned to the track still on the lead lap. Steckly continued to work his way up and by lap 275 was into the 8th position. Contact with a lapped car with less than ten laps to go cost Steckly a top ten position in the race and a lap to the leaders. Steckly said after the race "Lapped cars were a problem here all day as they seemed to want to race with the leaders, but twelfth here is good for us especially when they started thirty nine cars. Eighth would have definitely been better for us and also a good way to end the season."

Scott Steckly and his 22 Racing Team set goals for themselves for the 2000 season. They hoped to finish in the top ten in the point standings and gain their first podium finish. They accomplished those goals with an 8th in the points and a third place finish in the CARQUEST 200 at New Brunswick in June.

The #22 AW Millwrights/Erb Transport Pontiac Team wish to thank all their sponsors for the support they have provided during the 2000 racing season. 22 Racing also hopes to add additional sponsorship for 2001 to help them compete in the entire Eastern & National Super Series schedules.
