THIRD STRAIGHT PODIUM FINISH FOR DJ KENNINGTON AND CASTROL DODGE

July 6, 2008. DJ Kennington and the Castrol/ MC2 Dodge did not start the 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire series season the way the wanted with a part failure. However for the third straight race the Castrol Dodge driver was on the victory podium holding a trophy at the conclusion.

Round number four the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series had teams battling the tricky 4/10 mile oval at the Autodrome St. Eustache. As usual Kennington had the Castrol Dodge among the quickest cars throughout practice. "The car felt great right away, so we didn't run too many laps" said Kennington. "There's no sense running around out there when you know what you've got and the track is only going to change".

What Kennington had of course was another well performing car and scored the fourth quickest qualifying time and a starting spot on the outside of row two. When the green flag waved to begin the 250 lap race the Castrol Dodge did slide back a little but there was no sense of panic from the team."Outside is not where you want to be a St. Eustache" said the driver. "It took us a little while to get back down to the low side of the track but once we did we headed back toward the front".

While the Castrol Dodge consistently posted quick lap times and ran near the front Kennington was able to take over the top spot during the evening. "The Castrol Crew worked really hard to keep improving the car during out pit stops, but we came up just a little bit short". While DJ was able to stay with the lead group he was unable to notch his first victory of the season and forced to settle for a runner up finish".

While a third consecutive podium finish is a great accomplishment, Kennington and the Castrol Crew are also focused on the overall points battle and what they need to win it all. "It's another great finish for the Castrol Dodge, but unfortunately for us we finished behind Scott Steckly again. He's fast right now and on a great roll, but the harder we work the sooner we'll be able to get on a roll of our own,

Kennington added that the key to taking that final step in performance is understanding the handling characteristics of their new race car. "We're almost there" he said. "We're still not getting enough forward bite and I'm not sure why, but we'll address that. I'm looking forward to heading out west, we've had a lot of success running at Sun Valley Speedway in the past and I'm sure we can again".

With the runner up finish at the Autodrome St. Eustache DJ Kennington continues to sit second in the overall championship standings.

NASCAR Canadian Tire series competition resumes on Saturday July 19th with the first of two events in Western Canada at Sun Valley Speedway just outside Vernon, BC. The 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire series will consist of thirteen events on ovals, road courses and temporary street circuits from coast to coast. Each race will be broadcast on TSN. More
