RaceSportz hires U.S. driver, Marc Miller, for testing program and limited race schedule.
Arnprior, Ontario -- Team RaceSportz recently announced the signing of 6-time karting champion, Marc Miller, to drive the team's CASCAR SuperSeries entry for the 2003 season. The young driver from Holland, MI worked with the team in 2002 as a test driver and will now campaign four events in this year's SuperSeries schedule while continuing to help the team's testing program.
Miller comes off a season of limited racing, working as a driver coach as well as test driver for RaceSportz and ShifterKart Illustrated Magazine. He competed in a limited number of shifterkart events and one CASCAR Sportsman event in 2002.
"We tested Marc at a few road course venues early last year and his performance was remarkable," said Dave Connelly, Team RaceSportz owner. "We even brought him up to the Ottodrome for his first oval-track experience in Canada and he impressed all of us with a runner-up finish, starting from the back no less, so we are definitely looking forward to him getting back in the car on a regular basis."
"I am really looking forward to having the opportunity to race a car again," said Miller. "I am grateful to Dave and the RaceSportz team for giving me the opportunity for a true race program. A race driver hates to stand on the sidelines more than anything else and no amount of testing compares to wheel-to-wheel competition."
Miller began racing at age 12 and since has competed in stock cars in Southwest Virginia at age 14, worked for a top ARCA/USAC midget team and has acted as a professional instructor for Ford and Bondurant Racing School. Some of Miller's racing successes include National karting titles, four "rookie of the year" awards as well as winning in both Canadian F1200 and FF1600 competition.
The team is currently close to signing a sponsor for their SuperSeries entry with a formal release scheduled within the next two weeks. Team RaceSportz currently has a variety of race programs in effect for the 2003 season, with three cars to run in the CASCAR Carquest Series, a Canadian F1200 entry as well as Miller's CASCAR SuperSeries program.
